The people of Dubha Gangwali village of Brahmapur assembly constituency of Bihar Buxar have announced to boycott the vote in the assembly elections 2025. The villagers say that 'no road no vote', that is, no vote until there is no road. Even after 79 years of independence, a paved road has not been constructed in this village yet. The anger of the villagers who have been pleading for a long time has now come out openly.
The villagers say that they have repeatedly appealed to the MLA, MP and even the Chief Minister regarding road construction. But every time, nothing was received except assurances. Even today, to reach the village, people have to pass through mud and pothole-filled kutcha roads. The situation becomes even worse during the rainy season, which badly affects the education of children, treatment of the sick and the daily work of the villagers.
To express their protest, the villagers have put up banners at various places in the village, on which it is written, No Road, No Vote. Not only this, they have also paid symbolic tribute to the MLA of Brahmapur, MP of Buxar and the Chief Minister of the state by pasting posters in their names. This step raises serious questions on the working style of the government. The villagers say that till the basic needs of their village are not met, there is no point in voting.
This Dubha Gangwali village is also the ancestral village of the famous Ramayana singer Gayatri Thakur. Gayatri Thakur is known for her unique singing in the Mithila and Bhojpuri region. In such a situation, this village is also culturally important, but despite this, it is deprived of basic facilities of development. The villagers have made it clear that if the government ignores them this time too, they will boycott the upcoming assembly elections.
